This Art Prize has been announced in memory of 

Macushla Karen Darling Doyle

A young woman who's dedication and participation in art practice was an inspiration to many.

Macushla was a founding member of Growth Through Art, Artwise Inc an organisation that pioneered development and access to the arts for people with disabilities in the Northern Rivers Region.

Macushla was a painter, ceramicist, performer, dancer, poet and mermaid singer. Macushla exhibited locally nationally and internationally in solo exhibitions and group shows. Dancing her solo piece in the ensemble performance 'InHabitat' at the Adelaide High Beam festival with Kompany Kaos and performing as Freda Khalos' soul in 'Alive Still Alive' with Access Arts in Brisbane, Macushla touched the hearts of many with her understanding of familyships, friendships, relationships, loverships, and togetherships.
